and the smokin' scraps go to...

thanks for all the smoke ridding suggestions, i will put them to good use.

the smokey bag of fabric goes to susan who said, "Sunshine works wonders, if you can lay the fabric out on a towel to dry after its washed you should get rid of the scent."

congratulations. i'm sure it's all you ever wanted. i will send you an email to get your address.

actually it was kind of funny. this page had over 100 hits and only 7 comments. guess i was a little too honest. oh well, better odds for those put in the work.

if you want to see the random number generator at work, check out this video.

why i wish i could draw...

i love the little notes this mom wrote on napkins to put in her kids lunch. i would attempt to do this, but i am a little lacking in the drawing department. another one of the things i wish i learned in school, and one of the things i would love to take a class in.

baby shoes and a cover up

made some baby shoes for gifts again. this time i did them in mass production. here's a link for the pattern.

for baby naomi. a nice bright pink for the first girl after three boys.

for soon to be announced baby. haven't heard the name yet. i made these shoes out of a curtain panel that was on clearance from target.

the same with these shoes for baby malachi.

and some for baby hannah.

mallory kept borrowing the shoes for her dolly.

i don't what it is about the clothing industries and what they think we want put on outfits. this would have been a nice cute outfit, but then they went and put on rock star princess. just so you know, powers that be, i don't want my daughter growing up to be amy winehouse. sorry. and i really don't like the whole idea of princesses. yuck. of course, my daughter loves the whole idea of princesses. that's what she picks when she has to pick out a bandaid. sigh.

anyway, i covered it up to match the shoes for baby naomi.

anyway, i think it looks much better.

a scrappy giveaway...

congratulations to Sue! a smoke filled bag of scraps just for you!

at a garage sale this weekend, i hit a gold mine. i got a garbage bag of full of scraps, and in order to reduce spouse's fear of clutter, i went through and picked out the ones i didn't think i would use. so for you, dear reader or random stranger who passes through, i present a bag of scraps for your consideration...

the sizes of the scraps range from quilt squares and strips 3'' wide to a piece about a yard long.

mind you, it has been picked over, but there are some good quilt scraps, including enough neutral strips to use in a quilt.
the only problem is that the previous owner was a smoker. i didn't realize this until it had been bought and purchased. arg. so you will have to do something about that. sorry. in fact, if you would like to win this bag of scraps, please leave a comment on how you would get cigarette smoke out, so i have some idea how to get it out of the ones i kept. thanks.

i will have mallory pick a number and let the winner know on friday.

hallowig

this is what i would do for halloween if i only knitted instead of crocheted. fun.

more pretty flowers from my dad's garden...

where are mine? you might wonder...they died or you have already seen them. i need to get seasonal rotation in my garden. though i do have red tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and zucchini. i just haven't gotten pictures of them yet.

butterfly

a butterfly that landed by the lake and stayed there for a very long time. long enough for me to grab my camera and take a few pictures. and it even allowed mallory to come close. i think it was eating.

yet another pretty fabric...

i forgot to say another bonus for the hooter hider vs. the blanket...probably the most obvious one of all...you can see the baby as you are trying to get them to latch on. much easier than ducking underneath the blanket. and you don't get funny looks.

the tale of the green tomato

i took these pictures in the first part of june, and i am finally blogging about it. sigh. anyway, i was hanging up wash on the clothesline when mallory came running up to me and said, "look mommy, a tomato!" yep sure enough she picked it. my first tomato that formed and i was looking forward to when it would turn red and i could have a wonderful garden tomato...sigh...

oh well...now i have plenty growing, but i can't help wondering if that one would have been red by now.

and mallory knows now to only pick red tomatoes, which she tells me every time we take a tour of the garden. "don't pick the tomatoes, mommy. we pick red ones. not green ones." and then she laughs.

and i laugh, too. now.

then i was going to make fried green tomatoes out of it. you can't let your first tomato go to waste, you know. and then i looked closer, and i saw the incriminating evidence.

it's a good thing she's cute.

what happens in 5 minutes of quiet play

my sister posted this today. i thought it was highly amusing. and i was very impressed that it all happened in 5 minutes.

spinning round and round

you know in calvin and hobbes where they show hobbes getting washed in the washing machine? that's what i was reminded of when i washed mallory and isaac's toys.

these are bears that mal and ike got when isaac was just barely born.

the blue bear matched the outfit that i brought isaac home in. i got laughed at when i told people i even bought the matching bear. but i thought they were so cute. they are made from a knit material and brought on the sarcastical bear experiment.

and mallory's cuddle dolly. oh so soft and huggable.

So you think you can dance?

not compared to these guys. i really wish i could though. i haven't danced in 4 yrs. makes me want to take a class again. someday.

It is a really good show with a variety of dance styles with really good dancers. and i really wish they would have picked a different title. like, "i really really dance well" or "i really really like to dance." ok. sorry. i will stop saying really now.

they had Alvin Ailey on this season. shows that it isn't just fruffy dance, they have high brow art, too.

anyway. I am glad Joshua won. I would have wanted Katee, too. I am sad that I have to wait until next summer to see some good dancing. when are they going to put it on dvd? i would buy it. or make it available for internet streaming. since it is over, we are now going to cancel cable. no more tv for us, baby. just whatever we can get over the internet. so, please, please, please, powers that be, next season, put it on the net?

a ladybug princess

this was another one of those easy smocked/shirred one seam dresses. the little stinker wouldn't let me try it on her to see where i needed to hem it. i think i need to wrap her up in duct tape. so it is a little bit long. but i think it makes the dress look classier.

a close-up of the ladybug buttons mallory and i found and loved. mallory's favorite thing to do when i drag her to fabric stores is to play with the buttons.

the ladybug bow her aunt carma made her. and which i and everybody adored.

hot pink

which is, as mallory is keen to remind me, mallory's favorite color. well one of many. and the list includes butterflies.
