penicillin

an interesting article about the development of penicillin.

in other news, i am digging out my basement and discovered my old chemistry notes. as i was looking over them fondly, i realized that i don't understand them anymore. sheesh. i think i might have to take a chemistry class to brush up again. if you don't use it, you lose it. on a related note, i am thinking about taking a dance class again. even making my husband take a ballroom dance class. fun!

sometimes the world is so beautiful that you have to get out of the car and make your family wait while you take pictures.

fabric stash and storage...

question and answer from sew mama, sew!

# What do you usually sew? clothes for my daughter, toys, i would love to be sewing more quilts.
# When you shop for fabric, what size cuts do you usually buy? (i.e. If you see something beautiful, but you don’t have a use for it right away, how much do you buy?) 1 yard, or fat quarter if they have it.
# Do you buy on impulse or do you go out looking for something you need? oh, you always need fabric.
# Are you a pre-washer? If you are, do you wash your fabric before you need it, or only when you’re ready to use it? nope i don't pre wash. i always forget.
# Do you iron it? if it is very wrinkly.
# How do you sort it? (color, print size, collection, etc.) i try to do it by project, i.e. what i am going to use it for, or i will sort it by type of fabric.
# Do you have any special folding techniques? just as long as it isn't squished in a ball.
# How do you store your fabric? in plastic sacks stashed in a corner.
# What tips do you have for building up a well-rounded stash? don't do as i do. which is buy what you want on impulse.
# When do you say enough is enough? you can never have enough fabric.
# What are some of your favorite stash-busting projects? quilts, if i ever get them made...
# Do you have a current favorite print in your stash? Let’s see it! i'll post a picture below
# What’s your definition of the perfect stash? my own quilt store. wouldn't that be fun?

glacier light...i think. and speaking of ironing.
