just a simple bushy stitch until it was big enough. I wanted to make it blue with brown stripes, but the yarn (it was very soft) came only in blue. so it ended up as just plain ol' monocrome blue. with a brown border. I thought of it as my tribute to Firth. (the town where I grew up). I found most of the blue yarn on clearance for a quarter. but it didn't go very far (only 57 yards to a skein). so i bought more, priced at $5 a skein. sheesh-- a bit pricey i thought for 57 yards, and what a good deal i got for the quarter skeins. yep, i am cheap and i like to bargain hunt.
