curly hair isn't all it's cracked up to be.
another pregnancy ailment that caught me off guard, because i didn't notice it until a few months after birth. then i had all these short hairs poking out in the middle of nowhere. especially since it is curly and can't lay flat. arg. i might just shave off my hair. it's got to be easier.

a blood red sun.
we had a wildfire nearby. and as mallory said, it was orange outside. it rained down ashes for about an hour too. kids got a little upset that their slide was dirty until i got out the hose to clean it off. and they got to play with the hose.

Sarsaparilla Skirt & Vest
Sarsaparilla Skirt & Vest GIVEAWAY !!!!!!!
cute. but i'm not the one giving it away. i am just trying to win. i have this belief that someday i will win something. hopefully it's the jackpot. you know, 25 million dollars? wouldn't that be great? oh yeah, actually playing the lottery would increase your chances, but dreaming of it is still fun.

rubik's cube.
this is how i found it at the garage sale.
and this is all i have accomplished so far. sigh. someday i will figure this out. i have been tempted to look online for how you are supposed to solve it, but i will be strong and not cheat.

how i get my daughter's hair done.
and she inheirited her thick, tangly, messy, curly hair from me. poor kid. but anyway, if i don't want to let my kid go around looking like white trash, i put her in the sink where she goes to town. which usually includes wiping her soapy hands all over the mirror.

fixed the bug
some fruits of our garden.
mmm....i think my favorite thing in the whole world is a home grown tomato (even more than chips and salsa. i know, it surprises me, too). leaves store bought tomatoes in the dust. even when they have an ugly crack in them.

bug.
i need to ask my entomology friend, or what's that bug, what this is. but it was perched outside our window for about 4 hours. must have had a good nap.

collecting
this was a fun project to do with kids. for cub scouts, my nephew needed to start a collection. so the kids went around the yard finding leaves and labeling. (and a good way to get kids interested in science. just in case the periodic table above the crib doesn't work.) miss mallory wouldn't stop for pictures. or hold up the leaves so we could look at them. she kept on a truckin'.
we needed to get a pose in with grandma. it was her idea after all. and her hard work keeping the kids focused. and she's holding the baby. wonder woman.

two nursing covers
two for one. and i think this is the last of my nursing cover boom. you know when you get 20 all at once? yeah, that happened. at least not 20 of them. but it is either feast or famine. i guess that it is how it is in everything.
a nice airy nursing cover for a mom in florida.
i made this for a mother who was due at the beginning of august. i too would pick something light if i lived in florida. secretly i was glad that i wasn't pregnant at the beginning of august and living in florida. i think i would die of heat stroke.

cantaloupe soup
it actually turned out pretty good (much better than the picture of it). isaac loved it. in fact, he ate most of it. it doesn't keep, though. i would eat it up pretty fast.
i looked up recipes online and decided to go free style. or actually combine recipes and use what i had on hand.
so here's how it went down:
1 cantaloupe pureed in a blender.
1 cup heavy cream added to the cantaloupe puree.
1 orange squeezed into the soup.
lots of sugar (3 Tbsp, at least) and some cinnamon and vanilla until it tasted good.

a working vacation
this is what the significant other decided to do for his vacation. and hopefully we will no longer have a grub eatten, patch ridden backyard. here's hoping.
the kids enjoyed watching the work. isaac sat a long time in his chair.
this is doug's leveler. quite ingenious. though i am glad i didn't have to pull it.

silly kitty.
we got a new kitty recently, who enjoys climbing the screen. who made it all the way to the top, i might add, before i could grab the camera.
