congratulations to Sue! a smoke filled bag of scraps just for you!
at a garage sale this weekend, i hit a gold mine. i got a garbage bag of full of scraps, and in order to reduce spouse's fear of clutter, i went through and picked out the ones i didn't think i would use. so for you, dear reader or random stranger who passes through, i present a bag of scraps for your consideration...
the sizes of the scraps range from quilt squares and strips 3'' wide to a piece about a yard long.
mind you, it has been picked over, but there are some good quilt scraps, including enough neutral strips to use in a quilt.
the only problem is that the previous owner was a smoker. i didn't realize this until it had been bought and purchased. arg. so you will have to do something about that. sorry. in fact, if you would like to win this bag of scraps, please leave a comment on how you would get cigarette smoke out, so i have some idea how to get it out of the ones i kept. thanks.
i will have mallory pick a number and let the winner know on friday.

put half a cup of baking soda as you wash it.
Sunshine works wonders, if you can lay the fabric out on a towel to dry after its washed you should get rid of the scent.

You can wash it in arm & hammer with oxiclean detergent. You could probably spray febreeze on it until you wash it.

I would wash it in regular detergent, add vinegar to the rinse, rinse it a second time with plain water, and then dry it in the sun. It's hard to get rid of that smell, isn't it?
I would wash it and febreeze it (until it begs for mercy!).
I would give it a good wash in the machine with my other halfs smelly damp surfing towels, hang it on the line to dry, then give it a spray of my fav perfume and iron.
We live on a farm and the following gets the cow poop smell and stains out, so it should work on cigarette smoke. Wash the scraps in my regular detergent (Sunlight) and add a 1/2 cup of Amaze baby detergent and hang on the clothes line to dry outside.
I may be to late to enter, but charcoal will absorb odors... http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf599413.tip.html
I tried to enter a comment and it didn't work, so forgive me if this goes through twice. But dishsoap works for me. My mom is a smoker. Never underestimate the power of Dawn.
